Just in time for the Christmas season, our St John Toy Ambulance has returned to help put another ambulance on our roads.
Last year’s successful campaign saw ASB customers turn block set toy ambulances into a much needed real ambulance for Canterbury. To date, the ASB-funded vehicle has responded to more than 1,270 incidents, transporting more than 780 of these to a treatment centre in the local Canterbury community.
We want to help other little ambulances like this grow up to be a big one for St John. From today, for just $15 you can help by purchasing a St John Toy Ambulance from any of our branches or online from the ASB True Rewards store.
Providing emergency services to almost 90% of New Zealanders, St John has 696 ambulances and operational vehicles stationed throughout the country, and responds to 1,200 calls daily. But with high demand for its services, and the country’s growing population, St John requires a new ambulance to join its fleet. So once again we’ve teamed up with St John to sell these toy block ambulances to raise the money to purchase this much-needed ambulance.
St John CEO Peter Bradley is thrilled to be working with Kiwis across the country to raise funds to buy an ambulance. “It costs more than $200,000 to put a fully functioning St John ambulance on the road, and we couldn’t do that without our supporters. With more than 19,000 St John employees and volunteer staff, we are delighted to be partnering with ASB and the New Zealand public in adding to our fleet - we couldn’t do what we do without their support.
“Not only is the St John Toy Ambulance a wonderful block set for people of all ages to build and play with, the money they raise will help us help the rest of New Zealand when they need it most.”
