The move to digital banking does not come easily for everyone, and ASB's Community Bankers are here to help.

ASB is introducing a dedicated team of Community Bankers to lend a helping hand to those who need a bit more support with their banking.

The five ASB Community Bankers will spend the next twelve months visiting local libraries, community centres and aged-care facilities, bringing the personal touch and one-on-one support for customers who are getting to grips with ASB's online banking services.

Initially, the team will be based around Auckland, Northland and the Waikato, visiting customers who can't get to their local branch.

How ASB's Community Bankers can help

  • Facilitating free Better Banking Workshops in local communities, such as Rest Homes, ASB Branches and other community locations.
  • Coaching customers about ASB's digital banking and self-service options in one-on-one sessions at a time and place that suits.
  • Providing general, non-cash-based banking support.

Customers can register for a Better Banking Workshop facilitated by our Community Bankers by visiting this link. Customers can also arrange to meet a Community Banker by calling the ASB Contact Centre on 0800 272 119 (65+ priority line) or 0800 803 804.

The Community Banking trial is the latest in a number of ASB initiatives to help customers adjust to digital banking, including:

  • The 65+ priority phone line, 0800 272 119
  • Free Better Banking Workshops which provide banking basics and support about using ASB's digital banking channels, hosted at locations across New Zealand.
  • The in-branch priority hour from 9am in all branches for over 65-year-olds or those that need additional time with their banking queries.
  • Online ‘how-to guides' which provide information on a range of banking topics.
