ASB invites Wellington rugby fans to take on the All Blacks

As part of its All Black sponsorship, ASB is inviting Wellington fans to take on the boys in black in a game of coin rugby this Friday.

Locals are invited to head down to the Lambton Quay ASB Branch between 10.30 and 11.30 for a chance to challenge the All Blacks and test their skills, before the team take on South Africa at Wellington Regional Stadium on Saturday.

"ASB is a proud sponsor of the All Blacks and we're thrilled to be able to offer rugby fans the chance to meet some of the guys, and to test out their skills at a different kind of rugby," ASB head of community, sponsorship and events Mark Graham says.Fans can win prizes including rugby jerseys and tickets to the game, as well as getting to meet and have their photo taken with some of the players, before the final New Zealand-based game of the Investec Rugby championship.

But just which All Blacks are brave enough to test their coin rugby skills against passionate Wellington rugby fans won't be revealed until the branch doors open that morning.

"We know the All Blacks have some impressive skills on the field but off the pitch the odds are likely to be more even. We're looking forward to seeing some of the fans come down and try their luck - it's going to be a fun morning," Graham says

ASB has supported the All Blacks since 2015 and it sits alongside the bank's support of the Black Ferns and Maori All Blacks teams.

ASB offers Young Leaders Rugby Experience for some special Wellington students
To celebrate its sponsorship of the All Blacks, ASB is also giving 30 Wellington student rugby players the opportunity to join an ASB Young Leaders Rugby Experience.

Students from Mana College, Newlands College, St Patrick's College, Tawa College, Upper Hutt College, Kapatai College and Taita College will be given a tour of the stadium and invited to attend a pre-match captain's run on Friday ahead of the game.

"The once-in-a-lifetime experience is about recognising students who display excellent leadership qualities in their schools and who also show promise on the sports field," Graham says.
