One Step Ahead for the 2019 ASB Otago Sports Awards
06 May 2019 / Published in Your CommunityThis year the ASB Otago Sports Awards celebrate their 30 year anniversary, which we have been proud to partner with since 2006.
ASB is proud to stand behind community, and sport is a huge part of this. These awards celebrate Otago sportspeople, with anyone in the region able to be nominated. As well as celebrating these successes, the event aims to raise funds for the work of Sports Otago in developing the sporting community of the region.
The Awards will be held on the 17 May 2019 in the Dunedin Town Hall.

- Speight’s Sportsman of the Year: Dougal Allan, Oliver Chignell, Ben Smith
- NZME Sportswoman of the Year: Holly Robinson, Dayna Turnball, Zoe Sadowski-Synnott
- PKF Junior Sportsman of the Year: Malachi Buschi, Vilimoni Koro, Nico Porteous
- Mercy Hospital Junior Sportswoman of the Year: Alice Robinson, Nicole Ruske, Ella Harris
- Otago Daily Times Team of the Year: Dunedin Technical AFC Women’s Football team, the Southern Steel, the Otago Gold Rush Basketball team
- Otago Community Trust Coach of the Year: Tim Cafe, Mitchell Brown, Raylene Bates
- Tarn Group Official of the Year: Chris Gaffaney, Jono Bredin, James Doleman
ASB Head of Community, Sponsorship and Events Mark Graham says ASB is proud to once again support the ASB Otago Sports Awards.
“We’ve been involved in the ASB Otago Sports Awards since 2006 and it continues to be a highlight for us. Year after year, it’s great to see so many Otago locals performing exceptionally at national and international levels, and it’s a privilege to help recognise those achievements,” Mr Graham says.
