We're changing our branches so we can help more New Zealanders, faster
Over the past year we've seen a lot of unprecedented change in the world due to Covid-19. New Zealanders switched to digital and online banking services during lockdown and most have continued to do so, only visiting a branch when they need help or information to make an important financial decision.
It's important we adapt to this by changing the way we deliver our banking solutions, while still delivering the great service you're used to.
Empowering our people to help New Zealanders everywhere
From February we'll be making changes to our branch network by closing, relocating or reducing operating hours in a number of our branches. This might affect the way you bank, and we're here to help you during this transition.
There will be no job losses as a result of these changes. Your local team will continue to provide the same friendly service, whether it's at another branch, on a video call or on the phone.
What's changing?
These branches will remain open, but with reduced hours from 1 March 2021
More support when you need it
We've implemented a range of new services to support customers in vulnerable circumstances, including:
- A priority line at our contact centre for customers aged 65+ on 0800 272 119, from 8am to 8pm weekdays or 8:30am to 5pm on weekends and holidays.
- A *priority hour in all open branches from 9am to 10am weekdays, with specialised support for customers aged 65+ needing extra support accessing branch services.
*Not available in branches operating afternoons only
What this means for your business
For ASB business customers, we recognise these changes may present a challenge for your business and we're committed to supporting you through this transition.
Here's how we can help:
- You will still have access to self-service technology that allows your business to do day-to-day banking even once the branch has closed, relocated or moved to reduced hours. Our Smart ATMs and FastChange machines can take cash deposits and dispense notes and coins for floats. Many of these machines are in secure lobbies. Details of what services will be available can be found here.
- If your business processes large amounts of cash regularly, we can work with you on other options which may include using trusted third parties to implement a cash-in-transit solution. This can help you collect, deposit and process cash securely.
- Our branch team members will continue to be available to help your business set up self-service solutions and ensure you and your team are comfortable using them.
- If you would like more information on digital options for making and receiving payments, we are happy to talk you through our range of payment solutions.
- Our online banking allows you to do most of your personal and business banking quickly and easily. Once you're set up with online banking, you can also download our free ASB Mobile or ASB Mobile Business Banking apps so you can do your business banking on the go.
- See Business banking FAQs for more information.
