I've come across some unfamiliar terms in share trading, what's a holder number?

If you don't have a Common Shareholder Number (CSN) but already hold shares, you will have been issued with a 'customer' or holder number. It identifies you and your current shareholding with a share registry. Your holding can then be transferred on to a CSN (that identifies all your share holdings across more than one share registry) by contacting your sharebroker.
