I'm a new customer. How easy is it to switch from my current bank?
Switching bank accounts might seem a bit overwhelming but it's never been more simple to switch to ASB! We take care of the move. If you decide to switch some or all of your banking to ASB, all you have to do is apply for your chosen account and let us know you'd like to make the switch. We'll work with your current bank to arrange a smooth transition.
What do I need to do before I can use the ASB ID app?
If you have been asked to verify your identity and/or address, you can use the ASB ID app to do this online.
Start by visiting the ASB ID page and follow the instructions of what you might need before you begin.

I'm an existing ASB customer how do I apply for a new account?
If you're an existing ASB customer you can apply for a new account by:
- Logging in to FastNet Classic internet banking.
- Selecting the 'Open and apply' button on the accounts page.
- When the Open & apply page opens, selecting 'Open an account' in the 'Bank accounts' section.
- Following the instructions to apply.
Where is my nearest ASB branch or ATM machine?
Check the branch locator to find the ASB branch or ATM nearest to you, or if you are using the ASB Mobile app, you'll find a Branch and ATM Finder on the app under the main menu. If you have any questions, please call us on 0800 803 804.
Why do I need to verify my identity and address details?
Verifying your identity is required by New Zealand's Anti-Money Laundering (AML) laws.
Our goal is to make this as easy as possible. You can use our ASB ID App on your mobile phone to verify your identity and address, or call us on 0800 803 804 to make an appointment at your nearest branch.
ASB ID app
If you're new to ASB, or we've asked for proof of ID, you can now use our ASB ID app. It reads your current eligible e-passport (or New Zealand driver licence if you don't have an e-passport), takes a scan of your face selfie-style, and could save you a trip to a branch.
