How do I open an account with ASB?
Welcome, we’re glad you want to join ASB!
Moving your banking to ASB is easy and you can start the process online. Simply choose the account and services you would like and complete your details on our online application form, it only takes a few minutes.
Once you have completed the form we will automatically open your account and send you out a Visa Debit card if you have selected one. Your account will already accept deposits so you can give your account number to your employer or anyone else who needs it.
To activate your account, you’ll need to confirm your identity. You can do this anytime, anywhere on the ASB ID app (note: you’ll need to have a NZ driver licence, NZ passport or Australian passport). Alternatively you can visit any ASB branch with your proof of identification, and a proof of address. Once your account is activated you can then make withdrawals, use it for online bill payments, and access our internet banking and mobile services.
If you have any further questions, please visit our online help pages or call us on 0800 803 804 (+64 9 306 3000).
We’re looking forward to helping you with your banking.
