I’m a merchant, what is a Device or Virtual Account Number and will it show on the receipt?
Last Updated: 28 May 2019
Instead of using a card number, Google Pay assigns a unique Device or Virtual Account Number (Token). When a customer makes a purchase, this number, along with a transaction-specific code, is used to process the payment – meaning the merchant will never see card details.
The last four digits of the Device or Virtual Account Number will appear on customer receipts instead of the last four digits of the card number.
