I'm looking at ASB Contents Insurance. What is a specified item?
Specified items are the special things you own that may hold a particular value that you want to make sure are covered. Some items may need to be specified if their value is above the limits that apply in your policy wording.
These include:
- Paintings, pictures, ornaments or works of art
- Cameras or remotely piloted aircraft (drones)
- Watches and jewellery
- Bicycles
- Collections of stamps, medals or coins
- Bullion and unset precious stones
If you have any items from this list that are worth more than their policy limits, you need to contact us so you can list them on your policy separately as 'specified items'. This allows you to cover each item for the amount you specify. Adding any specified items to your policy will affect your total premium.
Note that you don't need to include the value of any specified items in your contents sum insured, as these items are covered separately.
It's important to review your policy schedule regularly to ensure it is up to date. To make changes to your Contents Insurance policy, give us a call on 0800 200 252.
