Why do I sometimes need to enter my PIN and other times I don’t when using Google Pay?
Last Updated: 29 Jun 2020
Depending on the type of ETFPOS terminal used, when making purchases over $200, some will require you to enter your four digit PIN whilst others won’t as they can verify your identify via biometrics held in the phone (e.g. thumb or face recognition). This is completely normal and is dependent on the varying technology found within different ETFPOS terminals at merchants. Rest assured Google Pay remains the secure way to pay using biometrics in order to enable transactions.
