Am I eligible for the KiwiSaver annual Government contribution?
Last Updated: 11 Apr 2022
You will be eligible for the annual Government contribution (also known as a member tax credit) if you:
- are a member of a KiwiSaver scheme,
- are 18 or older,
- are not yet eligible to make retirement withdrawals,
- reside mainly in New Zealand (or you’re a state services employee working outside New Zealand or work overseas for some charities), and
- contributed to your KiwiSaver account during the year
The Government will contribute 50 cents for every dollar you contribute (up to a maximum of $521.43 each year).
You may not receive the full amount if you don’t meet these requirements for the full year (1 July to 30 June).
