How do I create a strong password?
Strong passwords are long, random, easy for you to remember but hard for others to guess. There are a few tips and tricks to make a password that’s even stronger than minimum requirements.
Use a different password every time
It’s the first rule of password safety, but one of the hardest to implement. We have some tips on making it more memorable below!
Create a passphrase
A long password is a strong password. An easy way to make a long password that you can remember is to create a passphrase out of four or more random words. Because of their length, passphrases can be just as strong as a mix of numbers, letters and symbols.
Think Cats-Milkshake-Sunny-Banana or Elephant_Jumping_Fence_Bicycle.
Keep it random
Avoid using names, dates of birth or addresses, whether they're yours, a family member's or your pet. They're easy to find out, and hackers can use them to guess your password.
Find it hard to remember your passwords?
Some people use password managers to remember their passwords for them. There are lots of options out there and using them isn’t a breach of our T&Cs, but make sure to do your research and check they are reputable and have excellent security credentials.
Remember: The best passwords are easy for you to remember, but hard for others to guess.
