Why can't I change my ASB credit card or overdraft limits online anymore?

Last Updated: 24 Feb 2022

From the 22nd November 2021, the ability to adjust your credit card or arranged overdraft limits up or down online will be removed completely. You will no longer be able to increase your limit online without a full application.

To add, remove or change a limit you will need to get in contact with us. If you want a lower limit, just let us know. We’ll reduce it to a limit that suits your needs. Or, if you want a higher limit, we’ll start an application process to ensure you receive the right limit for your financial situation.

There are a few things you should know about overdrafts:

  • Approval is subject to ASB lending criteria.
  • An overdraft works as a line of credit, meaning it's available for you to use, as and when you need it, up to a set limit.
  • The current unsecured interest rate applies to any overdrawn balance up to your approved overdraft limit.
  • If your approved limit is exceeded, then default interest at our unarranged overdraft interest rate will be charged on that amount.
  • If there is no arranged overdraft in place, then interest at our unarranged overdraft interest rate will be charged on any overdrawn balance on your account. If your account is in excess of $20.00, you will also be charged our monthly unarranged overdraft facility fee of $3.00.

There are a few things you should know about Credit cards:

  • Approval is subject to ASB lending criteria.
  • A credit card works as a line of credit, meaning it's available for you to use, as and when you need it, up to a set limit.
  • If you wish to reduce your current limit, you can reduce it to the minimum limit for your type of credit card however you are unable to have a limit lower than your balance.
