I'm trying to make a purchase with my ASB Visa card, why would the transaction be declined?

Common reasons that a transaction may not work on your ASB Visa card may include:

  • Our fraud monitoring systems may have blocked the transaction. If this is the case, we will contact you to confirm whether you made the transaction or not. We may contact you via:
    • Card security alert
    • Phone
    • Email
    • SMS
  • You may have restricted certain transaction types using ASB Card Control in the ASB Mobile app. Learn more.
  • If using an ASB Visa Debit, your transaction may exceed the daily online purchase limit of $10,000 NZD.
  • Visa Secure may prompt you to enter a Netcode or answer security questions when you shop with certain online retailers. Learn more.

Other things you can check:

  • Ensure you have sufficient funds available in your card account.
  • Ensure you have typed your card information correctly.
